ABOUT OUR CLUB

NISSAN DATSUN DRIVERS CLUB est. 1970

Established in 1970 by George & Judy Sosimenko, Eric Vigar along with the the principal Datsun Dealer in Penrith Mal Longmore, it quickly became established as one of the leading car clubs within NSW and Australia during the 1970's and 1980's.

With the success of the January long weekend events with other Datsun car clubs in Australia during 1974-1984 and acquiring land at Colo Heights in 1977, 60kms North West of Windsor (owned now by the Sydney Off Road Racing Association), it attracted a large number of people. At one stage, the club boasted over 600 members. The club was also revolutionary in the way club motorsport conducts itself, including the introduction of Khanacross and rallysprints and the extension to the National Motorkhana Code to enable three tests run at the one time!

The club also ran a number of successful Open & Clubman rallies in the Oberon / Sunny Corner areas as well as Parkes to cater for its rallyists. Since 1984, the club has staged a rally from the Oberon areas and since 2006 conducted a successful pacenoted rally in the Buladelah region, north of Newcastle.

Through the 1990's to today, membership steadily declined, however with enthusiastic people such as Graham Humphreys, Brad Armstrong, Tom Flegl, Carlos Casmiri, Frank Neale, Scott Kuhner and Matthew Sosimenko (son of George & Judy Sosimenko) and with the successful running of a Clubman and State Rally, the aim is to relieve the glory days from the 1970's and 1980's.

In 2010, the club will celebrate its 40th Anniversary, and big events are in store so watch this website.
