ABOUT OUR CLUB
NISSAN DATSUN DRIVERS CLUB est. c1970
Now (2011) operating as an incorporated association, the familiar Nissan Datsun Drivers Club was originally established as Datsun Drivers Club during the 1970s. It very quickly became a premier motorsport club, predominantly with NSW and became well known throughout Australia. Having acquired land, now gone, at Colo Heights in 1977, 60kms North West of Windsor, it gained a reputation for great 'home' events.
It instigated the introduction of Khanacross, Rallysprints and the running of three simultaneous Motorkhana events which was revolutionary in the way club motorsport was conducted. This brought about the extension of the Motorkhana code allowing these changes to occur.
The club has been well known for its motorsport events, running many successful, motorkhanas, super-sprints, rallysprints and of course, Open, Club and State rallies during its forty year plus lifetime. Clearly, its best known for its Black Springs (Oberon, NSW) rally and more recently the Myall Stages rally in the Newcastle region.
Although like many motorsport clubs, memberships had gradually decreased, a small resurgence is underway, with a mixture of former and new members of various age groups. These people are committed to returning the club towards being in a prominent position in NSW motorsport.
During 2010-2011, the club will celebrate its 40th Anniversary.
